Environmental Commitment
Many companies talk about supporting the environment. At Aipura, we do more than talk: we make measurable, ongoing investments in addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
Medical waste is an unavoidable by-product of caring for people.
However, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and working with our clients to promote sustainable waste management.
1% For the Planet
Aipura is a member of 1% for the Planet, which means that we donate 1% of our annual revenues to environmental organizations worldwide. The founder of the Patagonia clothing company started 1% for the Planet to build and support an alliance of businesses willing to make a substantial financial commitment to environmental stewardship and a healthy planet.
Carbon Neutral Fleet
Aipura ensures that the operation of its vehicle fleet is truly carbon neutral, offsetting all emissions with emission credits developed in conjunction with the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism and managed by the Bank of New York.
Recycled and Non-Toxic Products
Wherever possible, we encourage the use of waste disposal products made of recycled and non-toxic materials. For example, we stock the Renewables line of sharps containers from Covidien (formerly Kendall), which are made from recycled plastics from old sharps and medical waste containers themselves, and are recommended by the California Department of Public Health. We also offer Bio-Elite bags, which are cadmium-free, made with recycled materials, and are stronger, lighter, and priced lower than conventional red bags.
Commitment to Sustainability Principles
Aipura’s internal operations embed procedures for recycling, reduction of energy and water use, and other sustainability initiatives including green sourcing and digital document management. Where possible, our incinerable waste is treated at facilities that generate “waste-to-energy” power, assisting communities with their energy needs while reducing environmental impact.
Free Waste Minimization & Conservation Training
Aipura’s free training videos help you to effectively educate your staff in proper waste management techniques, helping prevent improper disposal while promoting waste reduction and recycling.
Free Online Storage of Waste Tracking Documents
Aipura offers secure, hassle-free online storage of all waste tracking documentation, reducing paper waste and physical storage space.
